Simultaneous Interpretation Presentation
Event Director: 梁文駿副教授
This is a showcase of students' learning outcomes over the entire semester and integrates international issues and academic sharing. Through expert lectures and live simultaneous interpretation practice, it allows participants to gain an in-depth understanding of the key role language plays in diplomacy, politics, and cross-cultural communication.
Extended Speech Contest
Event Director: 謝高林講師
Participants receive topics 24 hours in advance of their speech. Participants prepare and present a 5-7 minute speech on their topic. Judges rate each speaker based on the quality of the presentation, as well as on the oral and presentation skills displayed.
Translation Challenges Contest
Event Director: 歐冠宇副教授
This translation challenge consists of five stages, each set in a different classroom. Each stage presents one translation task: three are English-to-Chinese, and two are Chinese-to-English. The texts vary in nature and type. All tasks must be completed within 85 minutes, with 15 minutes allocated for each stage and an additional 2 minutes for moving to and preparing in the next classroom.
Impromptu Speech Contest
Event Director: 張忠安副教授
Participants receive topics 20 minutes in advance of their speech. They prepare and present a 2-minute speech on their topic. Judges rate each speaker based on the quality of the presentation, as well as on the oral and presentation skills displayed.
Capstone Presentation Contest
Event Director: 魏美瑤特聘教授
The Capstone event provides a platform for students to present their Capstone project and results to their peers. This is a highly valued event for upcoming Freshman and Sophomores looking towards their future: the event allows junior classmates to get a good feel of what it means to complete and present a Capstone project.
Dramatic Reading Contest
Event Director: 劉仁洲助理教授
Each closed division participant will reserve a unique reading from a from literature or from a poem/series of poems; two closed-division participant may choose the same reading/readings. Participants act out the scene/feeling of the reading, infusing it with passion, meaning and drama.
Open Mic Hour
Event Director: 林思果助理教授
Open Mic hour is open to those wishing to sing, tell jokes, read a story, or even engage in physical performances. All performances must include a spoken English element, be it sung, joked at, shouted, a commentary, etc.
GAI English Song Creation Award
Event Director: 陳玫蓉助理教授
Participants must use Suno AI and generative AI technologies to complete their music creations and upload them to YouTube.Each participant will have 5 minutes to present their work and explain the concept behind their creation.
